The Janson family has owned the land for over one hundred years but just recently started cultivating it for coffee. La Torcaza sits on the Pacific Ocean side of the country and has a perfect climate for growing coffee beans.

The coffee I received is a light, delicate coffee that is not bitter and doesn’t leave a heavy after taste. There are more ecxotic flavors, but what I received was a light roasted coffee that would be good for daily use.

I used to like the dark roasts but a few years back I tried a medium roast and found that I really enjoyed the different flavor notes. I have a “go to” for each coffee roaster I buy from and after over a year of trying Henry’s, I’d have to say that the PANAMA is my very favorite of the large selection of medium roasts. PANAMA is just delicious and the flavor to me even tops much more expensive beans. This is my “go to” at Henry’s, although there are a few more medium roasts I like. If you like medium roasts and haven’t tried PANAMA, get this. It’s wonderful!!

Today is first day I tried it. Great taste and nice full body for a medium roast. No bitterness!

It’s nice and good quality. I enjoy it a lot although my personal preference are light roasted beans. But if someone prefer a darker roast they may want to give this one a try. UPD: raised the rating to “five” – I realized that it is one of my favorite medium-roast coffee.

I’ve tried a few different coffees from Henry, all of them good, but this one stands out to me. It’s smooth and very delicious! I have a conical burr grinder and find that with maybe a scoopful more of beans than I usually use, set to medium grind, this makes the most wonderful brew! I would even say I enjoy it more than some of the super expensive beans I’ve bought. If you like medium roasts, I suggest this one highly!!

Henry’s Panama is the main reason I have been a loyal customer of his House of Coffee for the last 17 years. Every few weeks I get a couple of pounds, and at least one is the Panama. The Panama is, in my humble opinion, one of the best coffees in the Bay Area. It is not too dark, not too light, and captures perfectly Henry’s belief that every bean deserves its own roasting profile. I drink it via drip, in the Melitta, and in my Saecco superautomatic. Do not miss it.

I purchased Panama beans and Henry’s Decaf. One pound of each. I mix the beans all together. I set my Cuisinart coffee maker each night then in the morning my husband hits the button and the coffee begins to brew. I like my coffee nice and hot right after it is finished brewing, not being reheated over and over. I am enjoying this Blend very much!
I also have Vista Allegra mixed with Henry’s Decaf. On a daily basis I alternate the Panama with the Vista Allegra. I enjoy them both very much! Delighted that I found Henry’s coffee!
Before we go to the beach next month, I am going to order some ground coffee to take with us that will e suited for the flat bottom filtered pot at the beach condo.
I’ll write back later to order that. Will you be able to blend 2types. And grind it for me? Hope so!! Thank you!

We always have some Panama on hand for a special morning. Bold but not brash, smooth and never over-roasted or bitter. A really nice coffee.

I received my Panama beans last week and make a cup of coffee right away. To my surprise, it was a very well rounded roasted bean with plenty of flavor and aroma. Thanks for letting me try this wonderful coffee.

Have had it once so far. Not a true measure. However, I think I will like it. Aroma, taste and like wine, nice finish. I recently learned how to actually measure coffee / cup(s) ratio, (via the Henry’s website) so, a few more tests should yield some solid answers. Ask me again.

– bland – no special taste or flavor
– your Gypsy mix would have been a much better choice

I enjoyed this coffee very much. It is not as dark a roast as I usually like, but it was delicious. Pleasant aroma and lovely flavor. Will likely buy again…

I find it interesting that HHoC describes the roast for Panama as “medium,” as I find it beyond dark and well into the severely overroasted category. I am trying to remember having coffee that was roasted as dark and strong as this, but come up empty. This stuff is almost undrinkable, and completely obscures the delicate nature of the Panama beans. I would say it is a generous 1 1/2 stars out of 5, so I’ll grudgingly round up to a 2.

Been enjoying Henry’s blend for the last few months. Switched it up a bit and ordered the panama. It was ok. But I think I’ll stick with Henry’s blend.
