Genmai Cha is sometimes referred to as “popcorn tea” because a few grains of the rice pop during the roasting process that resemble popcorn. A staple tea in Japan, our Genmai Cha is blended with traditional style toasted and puffed rice. Adding puffed rice to traditional sencha results in a softer, sweeter green tea with pleasant toasty notes. There are several legends explaining the origins of Genmaicha, including that it was a ‘peasant’s tea’ made to prolong limited quantities of tea leaves, or that monks added tea to their food bowls to capture the last grains of rice.

The combination of green tea and roasted rice taste and smell amazing. Product quality is very high. I felt like I was drinking the tea from high end Japanese place. I used the product 3x times and it’s still smell and tasted great.
