Bulletproof coffee is a drink that combines coffee, grass-fed butter, and MCT oil to create a drink that provides a ton of energy. People that are looking for a low-carb, high-fat diet, such as paleo or ketogenic, are seeing amazing results with this recipe. So let's find out what bulletproof coffee is all about.
Bulletproof coffee was founded by an entrepreneur, and self-described "bio hacker" named David Asprey. He discovered the recipe while hiking in Tibet. The end result is a cup of coffee that gives a "clean" caffeine high and weight loss at the same time.
Ingredients
Coffee
This part is pretty simple. Brew a regular cup of coffee using the same machine you have at home. Since you're adding butter, we would recommend a darker roast, like Bella Finca to handle the butter flavor.
Use 16oz cup of coffee
Grass-fed Butter
Grass-fed butter is the key because it contains a high level of butyric acid and conjugated linoleic oil, which are known to reduce inflammation. It also has more nutrients, like vitamin A. A great brand of grass-fed butter is Kerrygold and can be found at your local supermarket.
Use 1 tablespoon of grass-fed butter.
MCT Oil
MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, and are naturally found in coconut and palm oil. MCT oil is a tasteless, translucent liquid that comes from a man-made process called fractionation, which involves extracting the MCTs from a natural substance such as the coconut oil. MCTs are an ideal energy source and known for their quick absorption.
Add 1 teaspoon of MCT oil.
Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients in your cup and stir with a spoon until the butter as fully melted. Sip, and enjoy a great and healthy cup of coffee.
