Le Genmai Cha est parfois appelé « thé pop-corn » car quelques grains de riz éclatent pendant le processus de torréfaction et ressemblent à du pop-corn. Thé de base au Japon, notre Genmai Cha est mélangé avec du riz grillé et soufflé de style traditionnel. L'ajout de riz soufflé au sencha traditionnel donne un thé vert plus doux et plus sucré avec d'agréables notes grillées. Il existe plusieurs légendes expliquant les origines du Genmaicha, notamment selon lesquelles il s'agissait d'un « thé de paysan » destiné à prolonger des quantités limitées de feuilles de thé, ou selon laquelle les moines ajoutaient du thé à leurs bols de nourriture pour capturer les derniers grains de riz. Préparation du thé

2g de thé 250g d'eau à 175ºF 1 à 2 minutes d'infusion
